Position summary

This position will be responsible for providing support in the development of a range of products and selling of high quality, value-added and patented mineral wool growing media to horticultural distributors and professional users (e.g. horticultural growers) throughout the region as well as to take over international accounts. The Sales Specialist will work to identify and collect new sales leads in business directories, client referrals, at trade shows, during visits to customers etc. in order to grow the sales for the company. The Sales Specialist must be enthusiastic about organizing quality sales presentations (sales pitch), have the technical knowledge and the desire to assist growers in improving quality and yield using Knauf Insulation ECOSE technology products while at the same time ensuring positive business relationships. The individual will be responsible for penetrating the horticultural community within the assigned territory. This territory covers the Netherlands and after some time, the Sales Specialist will take over international horticultural accounts.

 

Responsibilities

  • Actively supports the central office in the development of proper products for the professional horticultural market

  • Passionate about developing into a Sales Specialist in horticulture and to develop the market

  • Ensures positive business relationships and engagement with growers, distributors in the assigned territory

  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of the market in the assigned sales territory

  • Exhibits extreme passion, energy and creativity in the sales and support of products and objectives

  • Constantly sales oriented and focused, resulting in the growth of sales

  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate/demonstrate/present technical information to technical and non-technical audiences, both in group meetings and face-to-face

  • Demonstrates the ability to clearly and concisely communicate product, market, competition and customer data

  • Demonstrates the ability to keep track and deliver on agreed to Key Performance Indicators

  • Makes agronomic recommendations to customers by presenting products and solutions to maximize customer outcome

  • Proactively communicates with Knauf Insulation leadership regarding opportunities and obstacles in the selling process

  • Represents Knauf Insulation as an expert in innovative ECOSE growing media products

  • Collaborates with colleagues at Knauf Insulation to deliver on customer and KI objectives
     

 Specialized/technical knowledge, sales skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture/horticulture and/or sales, scientific/technical field of study preferred, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in specialty agricultural product sales or development and marketing support

  • Fluent in business English; German an advantage

  • Extensive knowledge on growing media and horticultural practices

  • Ability to travel to entire target territory up to 50% of the time

  • Clean driving record required

  • Solid computer skills with proficiency in MS Office; must be proficient in Excel, Word and Power Point

  • Strong knowledge of sales in agricultural growing media

  • Effective negotiation skills resulting in profitable growth

  • Familiarity with CRM software and demonstrated ability to use it as an enabling tool to manage and drive sales
